Final odds and prediction for Alabama vs. Vanderbilt Louisville football safety Devin Neal is leaving the team

Are you ready to dance with the devil in the pale moonlight this weekend? The long-awaited sequel Joker: Folie à Deux is coming to theaters, and it's safe to assume that fans of the original won't be too happy with this film, which relies more on embarrassing musical interludes and banal courtroom dramas than the shocking violence that made the first movie so popular.

If you don't feel like watching this film, there's always HBO and Max. The Joker's streaming home has plenty of hits to offer and we've picked three underrated films that are worth your time and attention this weekend. Be calm, none of them are gruesome murders in the style of My way.

We also have guides to the best movies on Netflix, the best movies on Hulu, the best movies on Amazon Prime Video, the best movies on Max, And The best films on Disney+.

Interview with the Vampire (1994)

The film version of Interview with the vampire has always gotten a bad reputation. Even before it was made, the casting of the all-American Tom Cruise as the very European, very decadent vampire Lestat was criticized. Even the book's author, Anne Rice, was against it! Today it is overshadowed by the adaptation of the AMC series, which some consider to be one of the best shows on television right now.

However, I like the film and think Cruise's breezy performance makes it worth watching. The film follows the transformation of Louis (Brad Pitt, still in his himbo phase) as he is seduced into becoming a vampire by Cruise's murderous Lestat. Along the way, the duo adopts a child, Claudia (a great Kirsten Dunst), into the vampire family, which is eventually torn apart by Louis' aversion to killing, Lestat's casual cruelty, and Claudia's desire for a mother figure.

Director: Neil Jordan, Interview with the vampire encapsulates the debauchery of 19th century New Orleans and Old Europe, and the picture continues well. Pitt makes for a sad sack, Louis who just mumbles and cries, but Cruise, Dunst and a long-haired Antonio Banderas as a lustful vampire pick up the slack.

The Perfect Host (2011)

David Hyde Pierce is famous for his role as Niles on the long-running and popular NBC sitcom Frasier. But Pierce is also a respected character actor in film, television and the stage, and landed a rare leading role in the underrated thriller The perfect host.

Pierce plays Warwick Wilson, a worldly man who is preparing for a dinner party at his home one evening when he is interrupted by a stranger named John, who is on the run from some police officers. Desperate, John takes Warwick hostage and needs the man's help to escape the police. But Warwick is not the man he seems, and as the film progresses, John may have ended up in a different kind of prison from which there is no escape.

Gremlins 2: The New Batch (1990)

Needed the world Gremlins Sequel in 1990? Probably not, but we got one anyway, and thank God we got it. Gremlins 2: The New Batch Is this a true rarity: a sequel that doesn't even surpass the original, but creates a unique path on its own. It's deeply strange and very funny and is the closest thing to live action Looney Tunes Movie because the madness is increased to 100%.

Gremlins 2 follows the original film's protagonists Billy, Kate and of course Gizmo, who now live in a tall, Trump Tower-like skyscraper in New York City. Gizmo gets wet and soon an army of gremlins, which eventually includes a lightning-fast gremlin and a slutty gremlin woman, take over the high-tech building. Billy and a small group of humans must retake the building and save the city from a gremlin invasion.

This movie is crazy; It's all non-sequels and pop culture references (if you ever want to see film critic Leonard Maltin get his just due, this film is for you), but he still finds the time to delve into his human and to invest in non-human characters. Quentin Tarantino is a fan, and after you see it, you will be too.
