Something special is happening.

What many thought was a potential trap game for the Washington Commanders in Week 5 was anything but. Dan Quinn's squad blew away the Cleveland Browns with minimal effort, although rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels finally looked human after an exceptional start to the season. It was a professional, balanced performance in all phases from which they emerged as comfortable winners.

The Commanders are the surprise of the 2024 NFL season through five weeks. They are atop the NFC East at 4-1. This is more than just a flash in the pan. Not only do Washington beat teams, they do so with confidence and ruthless conviction.

If the Commanders can somehow survive their trip to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 6, all bets are off. This is the toughest test of their season so far, but they have nothing to fear when playing with house money.

This is for the not too distant future. For now, here are five winners and two losers from Washington's stunning triumph over the Browns at Northwest Stadium in Week 5.

Winner #1

Tyler Biadasz – Commander C

The Washington Commanders needed a strong performance from their offensive line in this game. It wasn't flawless, but that was never going to be the case against a strong Cleveland Browns defense that also brought a lot of pressure from the second level. However, there was a lot that was good about the way this unit performed.

Tyler Biadasz delivered another outstanding performance. The experienced center is quickly becoming one of the best additions of the offseason. He set the tone from the first kickoff by beating people up in the run game, showing exceptional communication before the snap and also holding his own in pass protection to further increase his impact.

Commanders identified Biadasz as a priority target as free agency began. Dan Quinn knew from their time together at the Dallas Cowboys what qualifications he could bring with him. There is still a long way to go, but this appears to be an outstanding deal from the organization that is crying out for consistency.
