The Heritage Foundation is advancing our sordid history with Project 2025

On “Project 2025 Won’t Go Away” (September 28 statement): Kevin Roberts, president of the Heritage Foundation, shamelessly admits that the organization wants to “institutionalize Trumpism.” What could this mean other than replacing truth everywhere with obvious, corrosive lies?

The “legacy” that this transparent propaganda arm of the Republican Party called Orwell is actually promoting is a sordid history of right-wing duplicity, voter suppression and bad faith. Consider what its co-founder Paul Weyrich once said: “I don’t want everyone to vote. Elections are not won by the majority of people…In fact, our electoral influence quite frankly increases as the number of voters declines.”

The conservatism practiced by such cynics is a movement of reactionary apologists for wealth and privilege. Their fever dream is to abolish Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid while injecting more corporate fraud into politics, taking us back to the days of the robber barons of the 19th century.
