Ayda, married to rock DJ star Robbie Williams, said her mother's cervical cancer had returned more aggressively and had metastasized.

She revealed the family received the devastating news two months ago and Gwen, 74, is trying to stay positive.

Speaking on ITV's Loose Women today, Ayda told the panel: “It's really hard for me to talk about.”

“My mom – in our house we don't talk about phases – and I'm saying all this after talking to my mom about potentially talking about what she went through.”

“My mom said, 'I want you to tell this story so bad, I just want to make sure it's positive'.”

“I will do my best and keep the whole thing positive.”

An emotional Ayda continued: “Unfortunately my mother has come down with cervical cancer again and is also a breast cancer survivor.”

“The cancer has come back. We received the news a few months ago and I was just processing it privately.”

Ayda also shared the devastating news with her followers on Instagram, telling them: “The news was shocking and difficult for all of us to process privately.”

“She cried. I cried. We all cried together. There were many moments of deep sadness.”

“And yet also moments of deep beauty and joy, in completely unexpected ways.”

“This is a fight. And what my mother lost in hair and weight, she more than gained in strength and bravery. I’m lucky to have a warrior mummy like that show me the way.”

Ayda first opened up about her mother's health battle four years ago.

Gwen was faced with an “aggressive” tumor and was diagnosed with stage two cervical cancer.

She said: “It had spread outside the cervix and was a very aggressive tumor.”

“In addition to her Parkinson's disease and her lupus, there was also this battle with cancer because the cancer was so big that they decided that she needed to immediately undergo daily chemotherapy and radiation therapy and have surgery.”

“It was very scary as my mother, who is 70 years old and has Parkinson's, lupus and cancer, is the main cause of some bad things happening.”

“So she went to the hospital every day for these treatments and I was worried she would catch something.”
