Jim Montgomery didn't like his team's performance on Thursday. He thought the Bruins were slow and lethargic, especially early in Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Kings in Quebec City.

“At first I thought we were sleeping. We didn't move our legs. … It wasn’t a very good game from us in that regard,” Montgomery said. “We’re looking at how we progress, not just in this game but throughout camp.”

He believed camp had largely reached the point where players were starting to look forward to Tuesday's opening game against the Panthers in Florida.

“I think a lot of guys are looking forward to Tuesday. For a lot of boys, this was their last friendly game,” he said. “For veterans, it’s more about timing. For guys trying to make the team, it’s more about impressing.”

The Bruins have one final exhibition game on Sunday before the final roster is announced on Monday.

JONES DEBUT – Max Jones made his first preseason appearance after battling an injury for most of training camp. He showed a willingness to be physical and was difficult to play against. He's likely competing for one of the final spots on the Bruins' opening roster.

KORPISALO RECEIVES THE FINAL TUNEUP – After a mostly solid camp, Joonas Korpisalo, who Jim Montgomery called his Game 1 goalie, allowed four goals on 26 shots Thursday.

“I feel pretty nervous,” he said. “I wasn't happy with a few goals. That’s what preseason is for – to get better. You learn things.”

BERGERON AWARDED DURING THE AUDITION – Bruins legend Patrice Bergeron, who grew up as a Nordiques fan, traveled north with the Bruins and was honored before the game. Bruins forward Patrick Brown, who scored their only goal, enjoyed being there.

“He’s a really impressive guy,” said Brown, who came to Boston after Bergeron retired. “I've been a fan my whole life. This was really deserved and a really nice thing they did.”
