Jax Taylor has given Brittany Cartwright They will receive full custody of their three-year-old son, Cruz, during the divorce proceedings.

“(This decision) was not made lightly or quickly. It took me many, many years to get to this point where I gathered enough courage and strength to do the best for myself, get out of a toxic relationship and ultimately realize my worth,” she said. “It was very difficult, but I am stronger than ever. … My motivation is my son, my Cruzie, who deserves a happy and healthy mom. Going forward, Jax and I will do the podcast separately.”

Taylor, meanwhile, said during a September episode of the podcast that his and Cartwright's split was “the right decision for our family” and noted that he will “always love and care for” Cartwright.

Taylor also spoke about his experience attending a 30-day mental health treatment program over the summer.

“It was a very, very scary step for me, but it absolutely had to happen. I’ve held on to that for many, many years,” he said. “I knew something was wrong for years, but I just didn't want to know. During my stay I learned a lot about myself. I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. … I now have a little better understanding of my mental health issues.”
