Wendy's announced Wednesday that it plans to launch a new cheeseburger called the “Krabby Patty Kollab,” which, in true “SpongeBob” style, comes with a “top secret” sauce.

As part of the collaboration with Paramount, a vanilla Frosty with a pineapple-mango-flavored puree swirl is also being released, called Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty. But the main item is the fast food chain's version of the famous Krabby Patty, the Krabby Patty Kollab Burger.

The burger consists of a quarter pound of beef, two slices of melted American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion and a “top secret shrimp kolab sauce” on a toasted bun.

But what's so special about the Krabby Patty and its secret sauce? Wendy's remained tight-lipped on details, but here's what we know so far.

When is the Krabby Patty coming to Wendy's?

Both menu items – the Cheeseburger and the Frosty – will be available nationwide in the U.S., Canada and Guam beginning Tuesday, Oct. 8, Wendy's said in a news release.

Customers in Los Angeles can get an exclusive first taste of the Krabby Patty Kollab Meal at an “immersive Wendy's drive-thru experience” in Panorama City on Monday, Oct. 7, and Tuesday, Oct. 8, Wendy's said.

What's in the secret Krabby Patty sauce at Wendy's?

The announcement of the burger's ingredients left many fans asking, “What's in the secret sauce?”

We asked and Wendy's responded with the following:

“Our top secret Krabby Patty Kolab Sauce is a closely guarded recipe that makes the first bite of the Krabby Patty Kolab Burger worth the wait for SpongeBob SquarePants fans and Wendy's customers alike,” a Wendy's spokesperson said in an email statement to USA TODAY on Friday.

Much like Mr. Krabs, the owner of the Krusty Krab, guards the Krabby Patty's secret formula in the animated series, Wendy's plans to guard the sauce's recipe in real life.

According to the press release, “The Krabby Patty Kollab” program will bring “SpongeBob SquarePants” Krabby Patty-inspired foods into the real world and onto the menu for the first time ever. The animated series first premiered on Nickelodeon in 1999.
