Don't call Billie Eilish a Nepo baby. During a recent cover story for ShineEilish's mother, Maggie Baird, sat down for a chat with the mothers of Selena Gomez, Beyoncé and Travis Kelce and dismissed claims on social media that her daughter is a “nepo baby” due to Baird's connection to Hollywood.

“I think it’s hilarious,” Baird told the publication. Her answer came after she was asked about her cameo appearance in a 1999 episode Friendswhich recently went viral online and sparked the “Nepo Baby” allegations.

“It was like, 'Oh, Billie's a Nepo baby,'” she said. “And I'm like, 'Did you know I had this episode of it?' Friends because I was about to lose my health insurance?'”

Baird continued, saying she and Eilish's father Patrick O'Connell are and are “working-class actors.”

“We were living on a shoestring, which meant we had a lot of time with our kids, which was great,” she said. “But the industry is mostly made up of people like us or people who aren’t even like us and can’t even do that.”

“When all this happened to our children, we were never on this page,” she added.

Baird has appeared in several supporting roles in shows and films throughout her acting career, including Curb your enthusiasm in 2000 a role as “Mother” in two episodes of Birds of prey in 2002 and an appearance in a single episode in Six feet under in 2005. She has also voiced characters in video games.

“I think that people don't really understand that there's a whole industry of people who are creative and work and struggle, who live perfectly happy lives, who feel creative and who feel fulfilled,” Baird said. “But it’s a completely different life than on this side of the door, where you’re suddenly playing in a different arena.”
