Anderson Cooper struggled for a moment to put a sentence together as he processed a bizarre video of Melania Trump promoting her new book.

“Sorry, this is the first time I've seen this. This is the weirdest promo I've ever seen,” the CNN anchor said after the clip aired.

“For example, the lighting…” he continued, making an incomprehensible noise. “I’m sorry, I’ve written four books, I’ve never seen a promo like this.”

Giggling, Cooper stammered even more, “I'm sorry, wow.”

The promo in question features an airbrushed black-and-white depiction of the former First Lady discussing her support for abortion rights to instrumental music. She claims that “individual freedom is a fundamental principle that I protect” and concludes by saying, “What does 'my body, my choice' really mean?”

The video then shows a copy of her memoir, Melaniawith the request to order it now. The release is scheduled for October 8th.

Earlier this week, The Guardian revealed that the former first lady had spoken out in favor of abortion in her book.

Her view contrasts with that of her husband, Donald Trump, who has boasted about eliminating federal abortion protections.

The Republican nominee has been evasive on the issue during the 2024 campaign, appearing to try to soften his stance to appeal to the majority of Americans who support abortion rights. He maintains that abortion regulations should be left to the states and has stated that he would veto a national abortion ban.

Some have speculated that Melania Trump's decision to speak out on the issue is a calculated ploy to appeal to moderate voters who support abortion.

After sharing Trump's reaction to his wife's pro-choice stance — in which the former president said he told his wife, “I'm not going to tell you what to do” — Cooper informed viewers, “I I have recovered from my shock.” ”
