So far, when people think of the former Nebraksa football player who was the most dominant defender in the NFL, Neil Smith is probably at the top the list. Ndamukong Suh is up there too. But the one who just doesn't get enough credit, for whatever reason, is Lavonte David.

Maybe the former Husker will get a little more attention Now that he's done what he did on Sunday. And what he managed to do on Sunday is reach a mark that has only been reached a second time in his team's history. David recorded his 1,500th career tackle.

With the Tampa Bay Bucs, only Derrick Brooks has more tackles in his career than the former Nebraska football star. And given that Linebacker doesn't seem to be slowing downit's possible he'll be at the top of that list by the end of his career.

David's first tackle of the day marked his 1,500th. his career. But he wasn't finished yet. David picked up a strip sack from Jalen Hurts, marking his 30th forced fumble of his career – tied with Khalil Mack for the most by any active player. To put an exclamation point on his resume, David Hurts sacked a second time, marking his fourth career game with more than two sacks (the first since 2018). With 35.5 sacks, David ranks seventh in franchise history.

David made his case for the Hall clear by finishing the historic day with eight tackles and even defending a pass.

Brooks finished his NFL career with 1,698 tackles. David is currently at 1,508. Assuming he finishes the season with the usual number of tackles of around 120 per season, his deficit would be around 98 tackles Brooks' career number.

It could only take one more season before the former Nebraska football star is the leading tackler in Tampa Bay Bucs history.
