At 39 years old, when he was in the 22nd grade, LeBron James decided to represent Team USA at the Paris Olympics instead of resting this summer.

He was, in a word, great. LeBron never had a subpar game and often looked like the best player in the world.

The basketball experts agreed and after winning the gold medal, he was voted FIBA MVP of the 2024 Olympics.

As LeBron progressed in his career, the topic of conversation eventually became how long he's been this good. Now everyone, including me, is talking about how old he is.

NBA players are no different and during Media Day, while speaking to Spectrum, LeBron revealed the Team USA teammates who teased him about his age.

“Ant-Man, definitely, Tyrese Haliburton, those guys were following me around all summer, calling me Old Head and Grandpa, things like that. You've probably seen a little bit of my gray hair coming out in my beard all summer long. I looked like a real grandpa… But the young guys on the Olympic team gave me everything, man. It was all fun. It's great to be with young people. They gave me energy and I tried to give it back to them.”

I'd like to hear what LeBron's trash talk was with Anthony Edwards and Tyrese Haliburton.

Did he remind her that he has four rings to zero? Maybe he reversed his age and called them “young bucks”? Or maybe he was simply using his legendary status to remind them that he would rather be 39-year-old LeBron than 20-something-year-old LeBron?

If I were LeBron, I'd probably just show Haliburton the clip of fans in Europe going crazy for James and Steph and being dead quiet as he walks by.

Seriously, it's great to see LeBron taking the teasing in stride. It's a blessing to play at this level at his age. Even his biggest haters have to admit that he's in a league of his own when it comes to longevity.

Only Vince Carter has played 22 NBA seasons, averaging five points, 2.1 rebounds and 0.8 assists. James will surpass those numbers this year as the Lakers' starter and hopefully lead the franchise to its 18th championship.

Yes, that's right, a light-hearted media day, a training camp practice, and I'm thinking about the best route for a Lakers parade. We are so back!
