“2,500 all-purpose yards, 20-plus touchdowns and I’ll be in New York for the Heisman (Trophy).”

Those were the high expectations that Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty had during PFF's exclusive interview with him in March.

Based on the first four games of the season, he may have sold himself short. Jeanty's 845 rushing yards are 160 more than any other player in college football, while his 13 rushing touchdowns clear the field by three. According to data, he has the fourth-best Heisman odds (+1000). DraftKings Sportsbook. Jeanty is on track for a record-breaking season, made all the more impressive considering two of his four games came against then-undefeated Power Five schools in Oregon and Washington State.

Keep in mind that this is just Jeanty's current pace for the rest regular season. It's perhaps unbelievable that Jeanty hasn't yet showcased what is arguably his best quality: his receptiveness. In high school, Jeanty played primarily wide receiver before switching to full-time running back as a senior. That pass-catching ability carried over to the college game, helping Jeanty amass 578 receiving yards as a sophomore — 95 more than any other FBS running back. His 91.6 PFF grade this season was 6.5 points higher than the next closest tailback. So far this year, Jeanty has only had six catches for 19 yards on 11 targets.

Jeanty started the season as the best receiving back in college football and is now clearly the best rusher in college football.
