After Carmen: Ohio State wins the battle in the trenches and dominates the second half against Iowa

Ohio State's first half against Iowa definitely had its fair share of awkwardness, at least on the offensive side of the football. But it took just a few minutes in the third quarter for the Buckeyes to open their second Big Ten game, with an offensive line gaining big ground and Will Howard finding his form as Ohio State cruised to a 35-7 win.

The addition of wide receivers the caliber of Emeka Egbuka and Jeremiah Smith helped Howard improve his performance on a day where the quarterback completed 21 of 25 passes and five total touchdowns. On the defensive side, Iowa star running back Kaleb Johnson was largely held in check by a ferocious Ohio State defensive line while the Buckeyes' linebackers rebounded strongly.

After a vicious performance against Michigan State, Sonny Styles collected a team-high seven tackles, with two tackles for a loss. Cody Simon had six tackles, while defensive end Jack Sawyer collected 1.5 sacks with a forced fumble. All told, Iowa averaged just 4.7 yards per play.
