Vols weren't even the best team in the state on Saturday Enthusiastic supporters greet Trump as he returns from Butler County

We will say more about this in the coming days.

But think about it: A random loss in October doesn't mean all that much now. That's fortunate for Alabama, but somewhat unfortunate for Vanderbilt, who won this game outright. It wasn't a coincidence, they took it from Alabama and brought it to Alabama.

Hats off to them. They deserve it…unlike many defenders who probably won the lottery. Because at this level of football, there's no reason aspiring NFL players should be impressed and confused by the bare boot.

So what does Coach DeBoer have to say after losing the most embarrassing game (at least in name) this program has seen since Louisiana-Monroe?

Luckily for Alabama, the new reality is that a midseason loss in October just doesn't mean much now. This is NFL light. Everyone is granted the grace to lose a stupid game almost every year because it comes down to: 1. Who ESPN wants in the playoffs and 2. Who is No. 1 in January, not October 5th.

So don't break down, people. You'll see a lot of that in the expanded playoffs. We've already seen it two or three times this season. It just sucks that it had to be us.

Respect everyone in the SEC. Everyone has players. Hopefully the staff has learned the message now.
