KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) – Teenage rookie David Martínez scored early, Denis Bouanga added two assists and goalkeeper Hugo Lloris kept a clean sheet for the 14th time this season as Los Angeles FC cruised to a 3-0 win over Sporting Kansas City on Saturday evening.

Martínez took a pass from Denis Bouanga in the 14th minute and scored for the fourth time this season, giving LAFC (17-8-7) the lead for good. Martínez made his third start and 15th appearance.

Cristian Olivera found the net for the sixth time, scoring in the first minute of injury time to give LAFC a two-goal lead at halftime. Bouanga recorded his career-high 11th assist of the season on goal and Timothy Tillman added his career-high sixth assist.

Defender Aaron Long scored in the 69th minute to make it 1-0. It was Long's first goal since scoring four goals for the New York Red Bulls in 2022. Fellow defender Eddie Segura secured his first assist of the season and his first since scoring two for the club in 2021.

Hugo Lloris made four saves in his shutout appearance for LAFC.

Tim Melia saved a shot for Sporting KC (8-18-7).

LAFC will travel to the Vancouver Whitecaps next Saturday before hosting the San Jose Earthquakes in a Decision Day game on October 19 to conclude the regular season.

Sporting KC will finish its season on October 19th with an away game against FC Dallas.
