Yankees close in ALDS Game 1 win over Royals Week 6 Football Release 10/24/3

The New York Yankees are focused on the upcoming American League Division Series, but the Juan Soto sweepstakes is still in the back of their minds.

How the Yankees perform in the playoffs will likely play a role in negotiations for Soto this offseason, and it has been widely reported that the New York Mets will pose the biggest threat to sign the 25-year-old superstar.

In his predictions for where Soto and other big names on the market will land this winter, Bleacher Report's Erik Beaston predicted that the Mets will take Soto away “with an offer too good to refuse.”

“Although Soto had a great time with the Yankees and had the best season of his career, he turned down a big contract extension from Washington in the past in order to make more money,” Beaston wrote. “If he thinks he can get it from the Mets or another team, he'll leave the Yankees in the rearview mirror.”

The Yankees will face plenty of competition from Steve Cohen and the Mets as they look to advance to the National League Division Series in a game Thursday night against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Winning a World Series would greatly improve the Yankees' chances of re-signing Soto, perhaps even to the point of being outbid by the Mets.

Soto's importance to the Yankees cannot be understated, and the fan base would go crazy if their superstar slugger moved to Queens.

Soto had arguably the best year of his career with the Yankees in 2024. He hit .288 with 41 home runs, 109 RBI and an OPS of .989.
