What we learned about the College Football Playoff race after the wildest week of the season so far What Sam Pittman said after Arkansas beat Tennessee 19-14

After a massacre on Saturday evening full of riots, chaos reigns everywhere. Now, as we assess the damage, let's take a look at the AP Top 25 college football rankings ahead of Week 7

Who is moving up? Who is moving down?

Note: This is not our ranking of the best teams, but our prediction of how the top 25 voters will place them in Sunday's official poll

Exit: UNLV, Louisville, USC

25. SMU. Kevin Jennings passed and ran for the most yardage of his career to hand ranked Louisville its second straight loss, which should be enough to move the 5-1 Mustangs out of the votes received category and into the actual rankings.

24. Illinois. Idle, next against Purdue

23. Pittsburgh. After receiving 42 votes last week, the Panthers were expected to move up the rankings after starting 5-0 for the first time since 1991 following a road win over North Carolina.

22. Missouri. This team was on cheating alert after narrow wins over BC and Vandy, and now the critics are loud and numerous after watching Mizzou get outsmarted by Texas A&M on the road. Don't be surprised if the AP's top 25 voters are 5-0 overall for Navy or Army on the Tigers.

21.Indiana. Kurtis Rourke had 380 passing yards and the Hoosiers ran for two more touchdowns to shut out Northwestern and move to 6-0 overall and a 3-0 mark in Big Ten play for the second time ever.

20. Boise State. Ashton Jeanty had 186 yards and 3 touchdowns as the Broncos literally ran through Utah State to move up the Group of Five pecking order.

19. Kansas State. Idle, next in Colorado

18.Oklahoma. Idle, next against Texas

17.Utah. Idle, next up at Arizona State

16.BYU. Idle, next against Arizona

15.Michigan. Jack Tuttle helped revive that passing offense for a while, but his turnovers ultimately doomed the Wolverines on the road in Washington as UM fell to 4-2.

14. Iowa State. Baylor led this game in the third quarter, but the Cyclones scored 24 unanswered points to pull away and improve to 2-0 in Big 12 play.

13. Clemson. Since the Week 1 loss to Georgia, the Tigers have won four straight games by an average of 28 points and have a clear path to a possible ACC title after a win over Florida State.

12. Texas A&M. A strong defensive performance and the return of Conner Weigman at quarterback allowed the Aggies to pulverize Missouri with the program's biggest win against an AP top-10 opponent ever and move to 3-0 in SEC play.

11. Notre Dame. Idle, next against Stanford

10. LSU. Idle, next against Ole Miss

9. Ole Miss. Jaxson Dart didn't score any touchdowns, but 335-pound nose tackle JJ Pegues did twice as the Rebels rebounded from their first loss by beating South Carolina on the road and should capitalize on other teams' losses to move up in the standings Rankings.

8.Miami. Cal built a 35-10 lead over the Hurricanes in the West, but Cam Ward led another furious comeback for the second straight year, outscoring the Golden Bears 28-3 and remaining undefeated.

7. Tennessee. Dylan Sampson scored two touchdowns, but otherwise the Vols' offense was inadequate. They lost an 11-point lead in a blowout loss to unranked Arkansas and missed a golden opportunity to finish in the top three after the Alabama loss.

6.Alabama. Who knows what AP voters will do after the No.

5. Penn State. Drew Allar threw for a TD and ran for another, but the Nittany Lions defense did the heavy lifting to beat UCLA before next weekend's trip to USC.

4. Georgia. Carson Beck threw two touchdowns and Trevor Etienne ran for two more as the Bulldogs pulled away from Auburn.

3.Oregon. Dillon Gabriel threw two touchdowns and ran for a third but also had two interceptions in the red zone to beat Sparty, with Ohio State coming to Autzen next week in a game-changing Big Ten battle.

2. Ohio State. Iowa's defense predictably left the Buckeyes on the ground early, scoring two takeaways in the first half, but Emeka Egbuka caught three touchdowns and pulled away.

1.Texas. Alabama's stunning loss at Vanderbilt should allow the idle Longhorns to jump back to No. 1 in the rankings ahead of next weekend's Red River Shootout against Oklahoma.
