Maya Rudolph as Kamala Harris Can't Stand Vice Presidential Candidates 'Vibrating' During Parody Debate on 'SNL'

Maya Rudolph and the cast of political impersonators from the 2024 election cycle returned to the Studio 8H stage in New York on Saturday for the latest episode of “Saturday Night Live,” recording last Tuesday's outdoor vice presidential debate.

As Kamala Harris, Rudolph was joined by Andy Samberg as Harris' husband, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, to introduce the skit. The couple settled in at home, poured themselves a glass of wine and tuned in as Jim Gaffigan returned to play Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and “SNL” cast member Bowen Yang as Ohio Senator JD Vance competed against each other on various topics.

At one point, both vice presidential candidates dodged answering questions, leading to Rudolph as Harris laughing nervously and saying of Gaffigan as Walz, “Ok, ok. He's out there doing his thing, whatever that may be…”

When Yang, as Vance, responded to the next question from co-star Heidi Gardner – who plays CBS anchor and debate moderator Norah O'Donnell – with a seemingly prepared answer, it impressed Gaffigan as Walz, who continued, “That's the guy.” Good “He has an answer for everything.” Yang seemed touched as Vance appreciated the compliment.

The two impersonators engaged in a more civil vice presidential debate between the two real candidates, later agreed on other topics, and ultimately said in unison, “This is an area where we have a lot in common.”

Berlin's “Take My Breath Away” then played while both contestants shook hands and had a hilarious moment of connection over the split screen.

At home, Rudolph watched as Harris spit out her wine in horror and asked, “Why are they friends? Why are they vibrating?!”

Then “SNL” alum Dana Carvey as President Joe Biden showed up again after last week to crash her TV party, spraying herself and Rudolph as Harris with ice cream as he told her, “You're going to be a great president.”

Nate Bargatze hosted this week's episode after hosting for the first time almost a year ago. Coldplay – who just released his new album “Moon Music” – was the musical guest.

“SNL” airs at 11:30 p.m. EDT/8:30 p.m. PDT on NBC. Next week's episode will be hosted by Ariana Grande, with Stevie Nicks playing music.
