Tom's Ten Takes – Steelers Vs Cowboys Dak Prescott: Persistence and resilience got us a win on Sunday night

Maine (WMTW) – The Maine Marathon is announcing some changes to this year's race.

The route has been revised from mile 1.5 to mile 5. Maine Marathon race director Bob Dunfey says much of the course has been retained for 2023. Here's a look at the new course route: MAINE MARATHON COURSE ROUTE MAP.

Dunfey said the reason for the change of course is because the Maine State Police decided this year not to close Exit 8 on Route 295, which leads into the busy intersection of Washington Avenue and Veranda Street. Dunfey says: “Hopefully in the future they will change their mind and work with the local police because without the ramps closed they will have a bigger challenge.”

The exhibit location, including vendors and where runners will pick up their race numbers, will now be located at the Stevens Square Community Center at 631 Stevens Avenue. The Maine Marathon Expo will be open the day before the race on Saturday, October 5, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with race bib pickup from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

There are also some changes to parking at the Maine Marathon. Here is a parking guide for this year's race: MAINE MARATHON DIRECTIONS & PARKING.

The Maine Marathon will take place on Sunday, October 6th from 7:45 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Around 5,000 runners are expected at this year's race.

Dunfey said: “We have a record number of runners and the weather looks great. We want to raise a record amount for Maine nonprofits.”
