Antonio Pierce benches struggling Raiders QB Gardner Minshew for Aidan O'Connell against Broncos Giants at Seattle Seahawks 2024 Week 5: Live Updates!

Michigan has had its second-half struggles in 2024, but Saturday against Washington almost looked like it would be different. The Wolverines fell behind 14-0 early and then Sherrone Moore made a quarterback change. Moore brought Jack Tuttle off the bench to spark the offense – which he did. Tuttle led off with three straight points to give Michigan a 17-14 lead. But that was short-lived. Tuttle turned the ball over twice in the fourth quarter – once through the air and once on the ground – and Washington beat the Wolverines 27-17.

Michigan has fallen to 4-2 on the season and the Wolverines are entering their bye week – a much-needed one. Not only did the Wolverines struggle with turnovers, Michigan's defense once again struggled. Mainly in the secondary, both Jyaire Hill and Zeke Berry were picked all night. Tackling also remains an issue for this Michigan defense.

According to PFF, both Hill and Berry were targeted nine times each and both allowed seven catches on the night. The Washington receivers struggled against weak coverage and poor tackling.

Here are the best and worst player grades since Michigan's loss to Washington, based on Pro Football Focus. We also take into account the number of player snaps you should know.

TE Marlin Klein had 45 snaps compared to Colston Lovelandis 31. Although Loveland was not on the injury report, it could indicate he is still dealing with a lingering shoulder issue.

After dominating the snaps last week, Kalel Mullings had 33 snaps and Donovan Edwards had 32.

Zeke Berry played significantly fewer snaps than in the previous two games. Against Washington he was on the field 48 times, but after performing poorly – that might have been the reason why.

L.B Jaydon Hood played in 14 snaps as third linebacker. Jimmy Rolder was outside.

S Quinten Johnson played in 66 snaps, which was 12 more than Makari Paige in safety (56)
