Arizona State football coach Kenny Dillingham has been talking all week about adding more running backs to the offense. It can't just be Cam Skattebo.

While Raleek Brown got his first real action and made a few plays, it was actually Skattebo who picked up the yardage when the Sun Devils needed it most, propelling them to a 35-31 win over Kansas in the Big 12. Saturday night's game drew a sellout crowd of 54,639 at Mountain America Stadium.

Skattebo scored on a 1-yard run, took a direct snap and scored the touchdown that gave the Sun Devils a 21-17 lead in the opening seconds of the fourth quarter.

Skattebo came into play with 30 more carries in the first four games than he did last year, when he also shouldered the load.

He's been needed more this season because others have been injured and unavailable, most notably explosive defenseman Raleek Brown, who has been out since the start of fall camp with a hamstring injury. Skattebo scored 86 runs in the first four games, leading all FBS running backs.

On Saturday, Skattebo had 25 carries for 182 yards and a touchdown. Brown had seven carries for 40 yards.
