Jordan Love made a costly mistake while trying to avoid a safety as the Green Bay Packers faced the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.

After taking a hit that sent him tumbling toward the back of the end zone, Love tossed the ball over his shoulder and tried to bring it downfield and out of harm's way.

The ball landed right in the danger zone when Rams safety Jaylen McCollough took it to the ground and trotted into the end zone for a pick-six, a much more consequential result than the safety would have resulted in.

The play gave Los Angeles the lead and led to fans cheering for โ€œLoveโ€ on social media.

Wow Jordan Love ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

The interception marked two firsts: it was the first career pick-six for Love and the first interception of rookie McCollough's career.

Love now has five interceptions in just three games, which isn't exactly ideal for a quarterback who received a four-year, $220 million contract this offseason. The Packers are hoping the interception doesn't get too much on Love's mind as he tries to lead Green Bay to a good win after losing a game to the Minnesota Vikings last week.

Maybe it will serve as a learning moment for love. Next time it might be better to just take the security.
