Milton update: Category 5 heading to Florida Hurricane Milton: Evacuation orders increase as storm reaches Category 5

On Sunday afternoon, thanks in part to a wildly blocked field goal, he scored a touchdown in the final minutes at Lumen Field.

While they were on the wrong side and it looked illegal at the moment considering Isaiah Simmons flying through the Seattle line, Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald defended the play after the game.

They were simply beaten.

“There's a guy in the A gap, we have to block him. It’s that simple,” Macdonald said. “But you're allowed to push down, they pushed down our right guard and he couldn't get to Simmons.”

Simmons flew through the Seahawks' line to block the play, which Bryce Ford-Wheaton then ran back 60 yards for a touchdown. That played for the Giants and avoided overtime, which seemed likely after Geno Smith began leading the Seahawks out of a late 10-point hole.

However, this play at least looked illegal at the moment – since defenders are not allowed to jump over the offensive line to block a field goal. While it seemed like Simmons did just that, Macdonald confirmed that he simply jumped through the gap created after one of their players was blocked on the floor – which is also a legal move.

For Kimes, it's strange that this type of push-down block isn't more common on field goal attempts. But regardless, Simmons' move was completely legal on Sunday afternoon.

Daniel Jones completed 23 of 34 yards for 257 yards and threw two touchdowns in the Giants' victory. Darius Slayton, who caught a clutch touchdown in the second half of the game after being hit for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, had 122 yards on eight catches and Tyrone Tracy had 129 yards on 18 carries on the ground.

Smith, who entered the week as the league's passing leader, completed 28 of 40 yards and a touchdown. He was also the Seahawks' rushing leader with 73 yards on the ground. With the loss, Seattle has now lost two games in a row. Things have to happen quickly for the match against the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday evening.
