While some viewers criticized Cooper for promoting a political agenda, the podcaster has now explained why she decided to interview the Democratic presidential candidate.

Harris' widely publicized interview was released on Sunday, in which the US vice president discussed women's rights and abortion.

Explaining her decision to talk politics at the start of Sunday's episode, Cooper said she had “been thinking about that decision for a while to get involved or not.”

Cooper says she has no intention of changing “her political affiliation.”

She clarified that she doesn't typically talk about politics or invite politicians on her show, emphasizing, “I want 'Call Her Daddy' to be a place where everyone feels comfortable.”

“But at the end of the day, I couldn't imagine a world where women are at the center of this election and I'm not a part of it,” she stressed.

Cooper noted that she was aware of the ideologically diverse crowd and clarified that her goal in speaking with Harris was not to “change his political affiliation.”

While the podcast often explores topics such as relationships, sex, trauma and mental health, Cooper notes that the focus is on women and the issues they face on a daily basis.

Alex Cooper reveals her show has also reached out to Trump

She further revealed that the podcast also reached out to Trump to invite him to discuss women's rights on the show, emphasizing that “this is not a one-sided conversation.”

“He's welcome on 'Call Her Daddy' anytime,” she said.

“Call Her Daddy” was originally planned as “locker room talk for women,” the Los Angeles Times reported. After a highly publicized breakup with co-creator Sofia Franklyn, Cooper then developed the podcast himself.
