New England Patriots safety Jabrill Peppers was arrested Saturday in Braintree, Massachusetts.

According to a police report viewed by Boston 25 News, Peppers was arrested after police were called about a disturbance at a home. The person who reported the disturbance said it appeared to be an argument between two people.

After Peppers was arrested, he was charged with assault, strangulation and possession of a Class “B” substance. According to Boston 25 News, the substance is believed to be cocaine.

There is no further information available about the alleged altercation between the 29-year-old Peppers and a second unidentified person, including what they argued about and what injuries Peppers or the second person suffered. However, the second person was treated on site by emergency services.

The Patriots released a statement regarding Peppers and his current situation.

“We are aware of an incident involving Jabrill Peppers over the weekend that police are currently investigating,” the statement said. “We will have no further comment at this time.”

Peppers is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
