Chiefs move to 5-0 as Saints' offensive woes continue: Key takeaways Disturbing camera footage of former NBA first-round pick and his baby mama shocks fans: 'Lock him up'

A big story as the New Orleans Saints take on the Kansas City Chiefs ESPNThis week's “Monday Night Football” will feature the return of safety Tyrann Mathieu, who earned two Pro Bowl selections and First Team All-Pro honors during his time with the Chiefs from 2019-21.

However, the Saints defense is filled with former Chiefs. Former Kansas City defensive end Tannoh Kpassagnon and linebacker Willie Gay Jr. are also now in New Orleans but will be unavailable Monday due to injuries.

A former head defender, defensive tackle Khalen Saunders, will play alongside Mathieu.

Following the Chiefs' Friday practice, star defenseman Chris Jones spoke about his bond with Saunders, his teammate from 2019-2022.

“That’s my guy, man,” Jones explained. “Khalen and I became very close during the time he was here. I always walked through his house. (I) still call his mom “mom.” We had a very personal relationship. That's my type. I wish him much success on his journey in this league. And I know that when we play on Monday he will be an opponent.”

During his time with the Chiefs, the team teased using the athletic Saunders in the offensive backfield in certain packages. In his first year with the Saints last season, the big man saw the field for 16 offensive snaps.

If Jones could ask his former teammates one question, it would be whether they might be on the field at the same time on Monday evening.

“I talked to him last night,” Jones recalled. “I'm going to call him today to see if he can tell me he's a misdemeanor. (He) probably won't, but it's good, man. It’s nice to play against the players you once played with and achieved so much with.”

Once the teams are on the field, Jones knows some things will temporarily be bigger than friendship.

“But it’s also a challenge,” he said about the duel. “We want to come here and make sure we leave with a win, so it’s exciting. (We’re) looking forward to it and maybe we can talk after the game.”
