Amazon Prime Day is usually a really good time to buy a vacuum cleaner. Many of our favorite models are on sale, and if you've got your eye on a high-priced product – like a Dyson V15 Detect, which cleaning consultant Jon Gibbons describes as “the pinnacle of what a cordless vacuum cleaner should be” – then they're often cheaper than all year round, except Black Friday. (Come back on Black Friday—we'll keep an eye out to see if it's on sale then, too.) It's also a great opportunity to pick up specialty cleaning tools that might feel like an unnecessary expense at full price, but are very worth it when on sale , like a stain-fighting portable carpet cleaner that's a Strategist bestseller (on sale for $82) or Marie Kondo's favorite air purifier.

To help you navigate an often chaotic and lengthy sales day, I've sifted through a huge table of deals to find the best value for money on the vacuums and cleaning equipment we trust. The Shark Navigator Lift-Away is a vacuum cleaner that is suitable for everyone. It's lightweight, versatile, easy to maneuver into nooks and crannies, and features a removable tray for cleaning stairs or other tight spaces.

An expert-recommended vacuum for picking up pet hair, now 26% off.

The Shark Vertex Ultra features a clever design that allows the pole to flex, making it easier to navigate under sofas and chairs. Today there is almost a 50 percent discount.

This Shark model is one of our most popular cordless vacuum cleaners. Features include an XL dust cup and an anti-allergen seal, which is useful if you deal with environmental allergies.

You rarely see Dysons this cheap without going to Facebook Marketplace. The V8, V11 and V15 models are predecessors of the brand's cordless stick vacuum cleaners and are still incredibly powerful and sophisticated. (The Dyson V15 vacuum was our top pick before it was dethroned by the newer Gen5detect.)

The Bissell Little Green is one of our favorite tools for removing stains from carpets and upholstery. It's always on sale on Prime Day and it's always a good deal.

It's a waste of money, but at about $100, this is the best deal I've ever seen on the Roborock Qrevo. It's McMahon's favorite mop and vacuum combination because of its speed and effectiveness: “He completely vacuumed and mopped my entire three-bedroom house twice in just under two hours, and my floors were spotless,” he writes.

A compact, USB-rechargeable vacuum cleaner for every corner where crumbs might hide.

Coway's ultra-reliable air purifier often goes on sale on Prime Day. It is a crucial factor if you suffer from environmental allergies.
