At just 14 years old, Jaylen Dunham already has an impressive collection of acting credits under her belt. His resume includes commercials, extras in films, modeling and singing. He has appeared in stage plays and on the Internet and is now applying for an audition The voice.

Dunham is from Charlotte, North Carolina, where he lives with his mother and father and lives directly across the street from his grandmother. He has been singing since he was a child. Almost as soon as he could speak, he began singing, a performer from the very beginning.

Dunham began posting song covers online at age 12, some of which garnered millions of views. Dunham scored The voice stage for his blind audition with a repeat performance of “Listen.” The song begins low and gentle, Dunham's developing voice fraying a little around the edges. His voice is changing (as it usually does when you're 14), and he's hoping a coach can help him navigate as a performer.

At the end of the song, Dunham shifted to a higher and seemingly more comfortable register, delivering a performance that would make any artist proud, let alone one so young. Unfortunately, none of the coaches chose Dunham. At least not yet. As soon as the trainers turned around to give feedback, they completely lost their composure. Gwen Stefani jumped out of her chair to congratulate Dunham on his achievement and hug him.

“You swapped a person, right? “Did you sing there?” Stefani asked. “I can't believe this.”
Overall, the trainers were amazed at the cognitive gap between what they heard and what they saw. “I can’t imagine how impressive you’ll be in three, five or 10 years,” Michael Bublé said.

“You sing in that low range of your voice; I’m blown away,” Stefani continued, pointing out some areas for improvement and perhaps explaining why none of the coaches turned around. “I think as the song continued to play, there was a growing concern that we wouldn’t release it, and I could hear that.”

The frustration in Stefani's voice at the missed opportunity was palpable, but luckily for everyone, Stefani had a proverbial trick up her sleeve. “We have this new thing on The voice. If you're basically like, 'Damn, I should have pushed my button, but I didn't push my button,' then you can push your button,” Stefani said, and she pushed it. In doing so, Dunham immediately became the newest addition to Team Gwen.

“I had to use my coach replay for Jaylen. At that moment I thought, “Should I use it?” and then I thought, “Yes, that’s the feeling you’re having right now; You have this feeling of regret. That’s what it’s for,” Stefani said. “My favorite thing about his voice was when he came in and sang in his really deep, gentle voice. He had a lot of control. Considering this is happening live on stage at 14 years old, I can’t wait to see what happens next.”
