The wait is over. Playoff baseball is back at Comerica Park.

The Detroit Tigers host the Cleveland Guardians in Game 3 of the ALDS on Wednesday, with the series tied 1-1. The Tigers' first home playoff game in a decade means Detroit or Cleveland are just one win away from advancing from the ALCS in Game 4 on Thursday.

The Tigers decided to wait until the last minute to announce a starter for Game 3 and ended up landing rookie right-hander Keider Montero to start. It will be Montero's second appearance in the series after he pitched two innings in Game 1 and allowed no runs with three strikeouts.

On the other hand, the Guardians are rolling with veteran right-hander Alex Cobb returning from a hand blister. He is 2-1 with a 2.76 ERA over 16⅓ innings in three starts on August 9, August 14 and September 1. Cobb was an All-Star in 2023 as a member of the San Francisco Giants and will make his third career postseason start.
