LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Texas Tech (4-1, 2-0 Big 12) avoided overtime this week as Cincinnati (3-2, 1-1 Big 12) missed a 51-yard field goal, that would have forced an extension.

The Red Raiders begin Big 12 Conference play undefeated with a 44-41 win. It's the first unbeaten start after two weeks since 2013. The team, led by Kliff Kingsbury, started conference play 4-0.

Behren Morton threw for 251 yards and two touchdowns that night. Coy Eakin scored both goals.

Josh Kelly failed to reach the end zone this week, but he led the Red Raiders with eight catches for 111 yards.

Tahj Brooks continues to pave the way for the Red Raider rushing attack, carrying the ball 32 times for 172 yards and two touchdowns.

Bearcat QB Brendan Sorsby threw four touchdowns for 426 yards with one interception that was returned for a Texas Tech touchdown.

The Red Raider defense allowed 129 rushing yards on the night. Two Cincinnati turnovers led to two touchdowns for Texas Tech.

Coach Joey McGuire improves to 14-3 and 19-12 overall in his three seasons at home at Jones AT&T Stadium.

Texas Tech hits the road to take on Arizona next Saturday, with kickoff scheduled for 10:00 p.m. CT.

The Red Raiders return home on October 19th when they host the Baylor Bears.
