The Colorado Avalanche and Vegas Golden Knights meet in NHL action on Wednesday at T-Mobile Arena. Here is a prediction for Vegas Golden Knights vs. Colorado Avalanche. This article contains a selection between Vegas Golden Knights and Colorado Avalanche.

Colorado Avalanche betting preview

The Colorado Avalanche follow this game with contests against the Blue Jackets and Islanders. The Avalanche won 50 games last season and made the playoffs each of the last seven years.

The Avalanche are still in their championship window and the return of Gabriel Landeskog could make a big difference. Landeskog has not played since June 2022 and has had multiple knee operations. So who knows what to expect from him in the future. What we do know is that Cale Makar is arguably the best defenseman in the NHL and sets the tone for the Avs. Nathan MacKinnon is coming off back-to-back 100-point seasons and Alexandar Georgiev is a great goalie. The Avalanche were unable to replicate the magic of the 2021-22 season, but there is still hope.

Vegas Golden Knights betting preview

The Vegas Golden Knights will face the Blues and Ducks after this game. Vegas followed up its Stanley Cup victory last season with a first-round exit and 45 wins.

The Golden Knights lost a lot of talent last season, including Michael Amadio, Anthony Mantha, William Carrier, Jonathan Marchessault and Logan Thompson. Vegas grabbed Ilya Samsonov, but who knows what version we'll get. The same goes for Victor Olofsson, who comes from Buffalo. That being said, the Golden Knights still have players from that Cup run on this roster, and this is an aggressive front office that's just pushing for titles. The offseason could have been better, but Vegas has set the standard that it's just here to win, so we'll see.

Why the Vegas Golden Knights will win

  • The underdogs have won each of the Avalanche's last four games.
  • The Avalanche have lost each of their last three games as favorites.
  • The Golden Knights have covered the puck line in 19 of their last 21 games as underdogs against Central Division opponents.
  • The Avalanche have failed to cover the puck line in four of their last five games against Western Conference opponents.
  • The underdogs have won the third period in each of the Avalanche's last six games.

  • Valeri Nichushkin has scored at least a point in each of his last seven appearances with the Avalanche as away favorites.
  • Valeri Nichushkin has scored at least one goal in eight of his last nine appearances.

Vegas Golden Knights vs Colorado Avalanche prediction

This should be an entertaining game between two current cup winners trying to get back to the top of the mountain. Could be a benchmark game early on. You can make a case for either side, but I'm going to favor the Vegas Golden Knights at home. Vegas usually performs at its best on home ice in front of a great crowd, and it is the home team that has won the last four meetings between them. Give me Vegas on Wednesday night.
