A shooting in Magħtab late Wednesday led to the arrest of three men, according to police.

The incident occurred in Triq Santa Klara at around 10:30 p.m. following an argument between residents and a man.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 41-year-old man from Qormi allegedly drove a vehicle into a gate and smashed it, got out and allegedly fired some shots towards the residence.

He then fled the scene of the accident in the vehicle. There were two men and three women in the apartment at the time, none of whom were injured.

The search for the vehicle, a Mercedes, and the person involved began immediately. At around 2:30 a.m., the wanted man turned himself in to police after going to Qormi police station, where he was arrested.

There he claimed that the two men who were in the apartment in question fired shots in his direction, but that he was not injured.

Further investigation later that night led to the discovery of the 41-year-old man's vehicle parked on the Naxxar coastal road. The vehicle had several damages, including gunshot marks. The vehicle was searched, but no firearm was found.

The police then returned to the apartment in Naxxar, during a search a shotgun was confiscated and the two men, aged 64 and 35, were arrested.

Judge Dr. Joseph Mifsud LL.D. was informed of the case and launched an investigation while the police investigation is ongoing.
