Juan Soto slid in to beat the throw — not that fans watching the TBS broadcast had much of a chance of catching it.

The national broadcast strangely followed Giancarlo Stanton during his fourth-inning double, a drive to left-center field that saw Soto score from the start and set up Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Royals.

Many viewers didn't like the camera work at the station where Bob Costas was on the phone.

“TBS is an embarrassment,” wrote Steve Torre of Mad Dog Radio on X. “Atrocious camera work on the Stanton double. I had no idea if Soto would score or how close the game would be. Too busy getting a George Brett history lesson.”

“I really think TBS is doing this on purpose,” said Eric Hubbs of Barstool Sports. “MLB needs to step in in the middle of the game and release people. This is ridiculous.”

The Jomboy Media team reacted much more violently to the livestream, with the moderators literally jumping out of their seats and tensing up in anger.

The underwhelming broadcast decision came unhelpfully after Jon Morosi's half-inning interview with Royals great George Brett marred Michael Massey's attack in the third inning.

Costas continued to give his thoughts on Brett even as Soto and Stanton squared off at the start of the fourth round.

“TBS is once again trying to show the stupid Royals-Yankees game in the middle of their George Brett documentary,” wrote Jimmy Traina of Sports Illustrated.

Brett's stories about games against the Yankees during his 21-year Hall of Fame career lasted long enough to even anger some Kansas City fans.

“I’m from Kansas City, born and raised. “The Royals are the only baseball I've ever really cared about,” FS1's Nick Wright shared.”

It was inescapable even to those who would listen when Yankees radio analyst Suzyn Waldman relayed the Brett complaints she had received.

“A friend of mine said to me today about George Brett, 'George Brett gets more TV time than Taylor Swift did when she started going to Chiefs games.' “Every time I look up, George Brett is on TV,” she told her audience.
