Game #1 Preview: One more start “My anxiety is through the roof,” said one woman who stayed home because of Milton

CNN anchor Dana Bash on Sunday pressed Republican National Committee co-chair Lara Trump on former President Trump's misleading claims about Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) relief aid available to residents.

In an interview on CNN's “State of the Union,” Bash Lara asked Trump if she was worried about her fellow North Carolinians, and specifically asked about Trump's suggestion that the Biden administration give Americans only 750 U.S. Dollars in reparation funds, if that amount is earmarked, offers emergency assistance to each family as the first step toward recovery.

“I am incredibly concerned in North Carolina. I hear every day from local people who are desperate for help. It's a bad situation there. I actually think we don’t even know how bad it really is there,” said the former president’s daughter-in-law.

“And look, Kamala Harris said it's currently $750 per family,” Lara Trump continued, before launching into an attack on the annual spending and on the failed policies at the southern border that Lara Trump blames on Harris made.

Bash dismissed some of Lara Trump's statements, saying, “But my question is about the misinformation, particularly the idea that they are funneling money to migrants, you say, undocumented migrants, which FEMA says is simply not true.” Bash said.

“And if people don’t get the right information, they won’t be able to ask for help” while they recover.

Bash then played a video of Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) in which he said he was impressed with the federal response to Hurricane Helene, noting that it was “a region that is… “I probably didn't experience the effects they had.”

“Anyone who thinks that every level of government, everyone here, could have been prepared for exactly what we're dealing with is clearly clueless,” Tillis said in the clip. “But right now I’m out here saying we’re doing a good job.”

When Bash noted that Tillis appeared to dismiss the claims of the former president and others, Lara Trump said, “I'm so glad to hear he thinks that, but that's coming straight from the people there.”

“You can go online and watch videos of people recording themselves and posting them online saying, 'We need help.' Nobody came here. “We have nothing,” Lara Trump added.
