The fortuitous clue came as the eye of the storm passed overhead and residents were urged to prepare for the “second half.”

Reference from Weather Channel Meteorologist Patriots-Falcons: As powerful Hurricane Milton hit the Florida coast on Wednesday evening, meteorologists attempted to provide on-site reports to those affected by the storm. In one instance, Paul Goodloe of the Weather Channel tried to make a particular point with, of all things, a reference to Super Bowl LI.

Goodloe reported from Sarasota as the eye of the storm passed overhead, discussing the characteristic temporary calm that settled over the area.

“We definitely enjoyed the little halftime show that Mother Nature gave us in Milton, but now we’re into the second half,” he said. “I have to remind everyone that you may still be under consideration right now. There is still a lot to do.”

To illustrate his point, Goodloe chose a somewhat strange metaphor: Super Bowl LI, in which the Patriots came from behind 28-3 to win the championship in overtime.

“I think back to the Atlanta Falcons winning the Super Bowl in the first half. “We know what happened in the second half when the Patriots came to life,” Goodloe said. “So don't sleep through the second half of Milton, and we're definitely concerned about this (storm) wave now.”
