Hurricane Milton moved across the state Wednesday night into Thursday morning, leaving a trail of storm surges, power outages and destruction in its wake.

The storm left millions of people without power and many across the state homeless early Thursday morning. But some tourists and residents are already wondering: Were the theme parks damaged at all? When will they reopen?

Here's what you should know before taking a road trip to the “Most Magical Place on Earth” or any other theme park in Florida.

Will Florida theme parks reopen after Hurricane Milton? When will they reopen?

Disney world: Theme parks, water parks and Disney Springs will remain closed on Thursday, October 10th. Officials did not announce a reopening date until Thursday, Oct. 10

Universal Orlando: The theme parks and Halloween Horror Nights event will be closed on Thursday, October 10th. Universal officials expect our destination, including Halloween Horror Nights, to fully reopen during normal operating hours on Friday, October 11, until the impacts of the storm are resolved.

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, SeaWorld Orlando: Both parks, as well as Aquatica, Discovery Cove and its Howl-O-Scream event, will remain closed on Thursday, October 10th. Officials said they are staying tuned for information about reopening the parks after the storm on Friday, Oct. 11.

LEGOLAND Florida: The theme park will be closed on Thursday, October 11th. Officials have not announced a reopening date and said to check their social media for updates.

Did Disney World suffer damage from Hurricane Milton? Beware of AI photos

Currently, none of the theme parks in Florida are reporting major damage, including to their hotels or other properties. Photos online show branches and other small debris scattered throughout hotels and theme parks.

However, some social media users have shared AI-generated photos of Magic Kingdom showing severe flooding. AI-generated photos are images created using artificial intelligence and machine learning, just like it sounds.

These photos were exposed as fake. According to Discover Magazine, the three best ways to check if a photo is AI generated are:

  • Watch out for crooked fingers and teeth
  • Be careful with textures that are too smooth
  • Do your research
