DETROIT – A rival to the Guardians in the American League Central Division could soon be up for sale.

The Pohlad family, which has owned the Minnesota Twins since 1984, announced plans to explore selling the franchise. Joe Pohlad, whose grandfather Carl Pohlad bought the club four decades ago, announced in a press release to Twins fans that his family had begun the process of finding “an ownership group that we can all be proud of and that cares about this “Minnesota Twins.”

Sportico.com reports that the twins have hired investment bank Allen & Company to help find a new ownership group. The website reports that the franchise is worth $1.7 billion and will generate revenue of $309 million in 2023, which is in the bottom third of the league.
