Denver Broncos running back Tyler Badie collapsed on the sidelines and was carried off the field on a stretcher with a back injury during Sunday's game against the New York Jets.

He appeared to have sustained the injury while making a tackle for several plays before collapsing.

Badie was struck in the back by the helmet of Jets linebacker Quincy Williams and landed face-first on the turf. He fumbled the play and the Jets recovered for a turnover. Badie was able to leave the field after the goal, but collapsed on the sideline a few plays later.

The Broncos' coaching staff cared for Badie as he lay on his back and then placed him on a stretcher. He was immobilized and carted off the field.

According to the CBS broadcast, Badie showed movement on the sidelines.

The Broncos later announced that Badie had been diagnosed with a back injury. He was officially listed as questionable to return. The specific nature of the injury was not initially clear.

Badie, 24, is in his third year as a pro after playing in college at Missouri. He was a sixth-round pick of the Ravens in 2022 and spent most of his rookie season on Baltimore's practice squad. The Broncos signed him off Baltimore's practice squad in 2022 and he has remained in Denver ever since.

He made just one appearance for the Broncos in 2023 before being added to the offense this season. He came into Sunday's game having rushed 10 times for 86 yards. He rushed for 70 yards on nine carries in Denver's Week 3 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
