When will Rashee Rice return? Latest updates for Chiefs WR Award-winning Broadway actor from 'Nightmare Before Christmas' dies

After battling throughout training camp to become the Green Bay Packers' starting kicker in 2024, both Anders Carlson and Greg Joseph found themselves on the outside looking in at the start of the season.

They were cut on two consecutive days in late August as the Packers moved in a new direction with undrafted rookie Brayden Narveson, who spent the entire offseason with the Tennessee Titans.

But Joseph hasn't been without a home for long. Meanwhile, Carlson is having a hard time finding an applicant.

Where are they now? Here's the latest on Joseph and Carlson.

Greg Joseph signs with the New York Giants

Since the Packers cut Joseph, several teams have wanted his services.

He earned a spot on the Detroit Lions' practice squad on September 11, but has since been acquired by the New York Giants.

The Giants signed Joseph to the active roster on Monday.

The Giants were in desperate need of a kicker after veteran Graham Gano went on injured reserve this week. He suffered a hamstring injury in Sunday's opener while also suffering from a groin injury.

New York then sent its player out to score an extra point in the game before continuing to play the rest of the way in a 21-18 loss to the Washington Commanders.

Joseph played the last three seasons with the Vikings, where he made 81.9% of his field goals. His 61-yard field goal in 2022 is the longest in Vikings history. He signed with the Packers in the offseason and had one of the most watched position battles during training camp.

Joseph was cut one day after the 53-man roster was finalized after the Packers acquired Narveson.

Anders Carlson has had a few tryouts since being cut by the Packers

Meanwhile, Carlson continues to search for his next big break.

He had a tryout with the Lions earlier this month, but Detroit chose Joseph to be on the practice squad.

Carlson continued traveling east as he had a tryout with the Buffalo Bills on Tuesday, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported.

The Packers selected Carlson in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft after moving on from longtime kicker Mason Crosby.

He began his career by making his first 17 shots (seven field goals and 10 extra points). But then the errors began. And in the end, no player missed more shots last season than Carlson.

Carlson's problems forced Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst to bring in several kickers for open competition this offseason.

But Carlson never took the job and was cut when the roster was reduced to 53 players on August 27.

Packers kicker Brayden Narveson's stats

The Packers made a somewhat surprising move when they moved on from the two kickers who were in training camp for Narveson, who signed with the Titans as an undrafted rookie.

But Gutekunst had watched Narveson while he was kicking for the Titans. During the preseason, Narveson made six of seven field goals, his highlight being a 59-yard kick.

The Packers liked what they saw and signed him a little over a week before the season opener.

It's been a bit of a rocky start for Narveson, although it's still early for someone new to the team. The Arena Corinthians for the Brazil game did not provide ideal field conditions and Week 2 was his Lambeau Field debut.

He is 6 for 8 on field goals, missing one in each of the first two weeks. He was wide right on both misses. He is 3 for 3 on extra points.

Despite his two misses, head coach Matt LaFleur said this week he's willing to be patient with the 24-year-old rookie.
