Earvin “Magic” Johnson was a guest on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Thursday night, and the host asked the former Los Angeles Lakers great about comments Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards recently made about current NBA talent compared to the talent from the Magic era.

“They say it was harder back then than it is now, but I don't think anyone had the skills back then,” Edwards told the Wall Street Journal. (Michael Jordan) was the only one who really had talent, you know what I mean? That’s why when they saw Kobe (Bryant), they said, ‘Oh my God.’ But now everyone has skill.”

“Thank you so much, Anthony,” Johnson told Kimmel. “I think he should have asked someone, maybe his father or his grandfather, about Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the most dominant player to ever play… Besides, you might also want to talk nonsense when you win something. If this is coming from some of the guys who have just won with the Celtic team then you might want to watch it too. But if I'm Anthony Edwards, I'm worried about the Dallas Mavericks, about OKC, about all those great teams… Focus because you got beat by the Mavericks. You didn't make it to the championship, so I'll focus on what happened in a time when you weren't born.

The Timberwolves lost in the Western Conference finals. Middletown native Micah Nori, who earned his master's degree from Miami University, took over as Minnesota's head coach when Chris Finch injured his knee on the sideline.
