Maren Morris opens up about co-parenting with Ryan Hurd, dating after a breakup

Maren Morris it’s about “getting things under control” with your ex-husband. Ryan Hurd when it comes to their coparenting dynamic.

“The co-parenting thing went well,” Morris, 34, revealed on the Wednesday, September 25, episode of the “Armchair Expert” podcast. “We’re doing our best this way, but it’s still pretty fresh.”

Morris and Hurd, 37, announced their separation in October 2023 after five years of marriage. The exes, who have three-year-old son Hayes, finalized their divorce in January. The former couple last reunited on September 18 to cheer on their son during a tennis match.

“Parents of a future Federer,” Morris wrote via Instagram alongside a photo with Hurd. She hinted at her son's greatness by referencing the tennis icon Roger Federer in the caption.

Aside from currently being a mother and co-parent, Morris said she feels “deeply creative” since her divorce and leaving country music in the rearview mirror. She teased: “There's a lot to write about, but also a freedom.”

Some of her new song inspiration comes from her life outside of touring while failing at dating. Morris noted that she doesn't want to be “on tour 280 days a year” but would rather be “at home” and be a “good mother” and also have a social life.
