LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Two people are in the hospital after a shooting at Pleasure Ridge Park, a men's football game Sunday night.

LMPD responded to a call for a crowd control emergency run at 7:15 p.m

Shortly after 8 p.m., shots were reported from the parking lot area. When LMPD officers found a juvenile male who had been shot multiple times. They were taken to UofL Hospital and are in critical condition.

A short time later, a second teenager arrived at Saints Mary and Elizabeth Hospital. They are expected to live.

Just before the shootout, a PRP player was treated on the ground with 2:03 minutes left to play. After the shots were fired, this player was still receiving an AED because his heart had stopped. An ambulance was called to pick up the player.

A male player also left the field injured shortly before the shots were fired.

JCPS sent the following letter to PRP and male families after the shooting:

Tonight shots were fired in the parking lot during our football game at PRP High School. JCPS police officers involved in the game quickly responded to the parking lot and LMPD was called. Many fans moved around under the stands while players were escorted to the locker room for their safety. We know that at least one person was injured. The game was stopped and people were ordered to leave once JCPS police and LMPD secured the area. We do not tolerate any violence. As a community we must work together to support each other. If your student would like to speak to someone about what happened, our counseling and mental health teams are always available to help.

The LMPD Homicide Unit is leading the investigation. An LMPD spokesman said investigators are pursuing leads, but there is no suspect information at this time.

LMPD is also asking residents in the area to check home video systems for suspicious individuals because they have “good reason to believe” that the individuals involved in the shooting may have fled through the residential area surrounding PRP High School.
