Married JR Smith welcomes a child with Candice Patton, years after the affair was discovered by his wife

JR Smith is adding another baby to his team.

The former NBA star, who is married to Shirley “Jewel” Smith, welcomed a baby boy with “Flash” actress Candice Patton, years after his wife revealed their affair.

On Friday, Patton, 36, shared on Instagram that she had given birth to a baby boy, along with photos of his tiny feet and a heavily tattooed person holding him.

“Son in virgin. Born at home. The heart now beats outside my chest. Forever in love 💕👣,” she captioned the post, without revealing who the baby’s father was.

The following day, the Craigslist Killer star and JR, 39, shared a joint post on Instagram that showed a carousel of pictures of the newborn with his face covered in emojis.

The former Cleveland Cavaliers star's baby announcement came as a shock to fans as he is still legally married to Shirley.

“That’s not his wife?!” wrote one fan in the comments section of a blog.

“Wow! He had a child with the woman he cheated on with smfh,” another added.

“Remember when his then-wife confronted her about having an affair??” said the third user.

“Wow…Jewel was Rite. This is the same thing from years ago, Rite? WOW!!! Ladies – stand by business, integrity and self-esteem. Never mess with a married man!!!!” a fourth person commented.

Almost five years ago, Shirley, who has been married to JR since 2016, publicly addressed the affair on Instagram and posted a video in which she prayed for her husband and his alleged mistress Patton.

“God, I want to lift up my husband and ask you…to please just cover him with your blood,” she said, adding that she wants God to “heal him.”

“My husband, he’s hurting and Candice, Lord God, she’s hurting,” Shirley continued.

“For her to go out of here, Lord Father God, and find a married man, Father God, I just pray that You give her grace and mercy in all of this. I’ll lift her up.”

After Shirley's prayer went viral, JR wrote on his Instagram Stories: “No weapon formed against me. IG is not a place for relationships!!”

The two-time NBA champion then revealed that he and Shirley have been “broken up for months.”

Patton and JR were first linked in October 2019 when a photo of the couple together at a Halloween party surfaced online.

Shirley and JR share daughters Dakota, 7, and Denver, 4. They also each have another child from previous relationships.
