JR Smith welcomed a new child Candice Patton.

On Friday (September 27), the “Flash” actress shared the heartwarming news on Instagram and posted pictures of her son. “Heart now beats outside my chest in love forever.” JR's distinctive tattoos are clearly visible in the photos and he is tagged in the posts.

The next day, Patton posted a joint Instagram update with the former NBA star, showing a carousel of photos of her newborn with his face covered in emojis. The announcement of JR's baby surprised many fans, especially since he is still legally married to him Shirley “Jewel” Smithas reported by Page six.

In 2019, Shirley, who has been married to JR since 2016 and is the mother of his two daughters, shared a video in which she prayed for both her husband and Patton, who she claimed was involved in an affair with him. “God, I want to lift up my husband and ask you, Lord Father God, to please just cover him with your blood. I ask you in the mighty name of Jesus that you go to him where he is and shake him up, God,” Shirley wrote. “You shake him up and you shake him up. . . I ask that you fix (and) heal him wherever he is broke.

She continued, “My husband, he's hurting and Candice, she's hurting…For her to go out of here, Father God, and find a married man, I just pray that You give her grace and mercy through all of this.”

JR later addressed the situation on his Instagram Story. “IG is not a place for relationships!! But God told me to tell you all that I have been separated for months. He doesn’t understand why his kid didn’t mention this… #thatsall,” he wrote.
