LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – A Louisville man was arrested Sunday at Pleasure Ridge Park High School, but he has not been charged in the shooting at the football game between Pleasure Ridge Park and Male High School that left several people injured.

An arrest warrant states Damon Jerome Williams Jr., 22, was taken into custody and lists the following charges:

  • Unlawful possession of weapons on school grounds
  • Convicted felon in possession of a pistol

Williams reportedly told an officer that he and a family member placed guns behind the visitors' bleachers because they “were from the Victory Park neighborhood and people don't like them.”

Louisville Metro Police officers had responded to a disturbance and crowd control operation at PRP High at 7:15 p.m., and just after 8 p.m. there was a report of shots fired from the parking lot area. Jefferson County Public Schools sent a letter to PRP and male families saying: Fans moved under the stands and players were escorted to the locker rooms.

Louisville Metro Police and JCPS Police responded to the scene of the shooting and a minor was found shot. Police said her condition is currently critical. Shortly thereafter, a second juvenile arrived at Saints Mary and Elizabeth Hospital, police said. He is expected to survive.

Before the shootout, a PRP player was being treated on the ground with 2:03 minutes left to play. The player was picked up by an ambulance and later released from hospital.
