Fantasy Football Start 'Em, Sit 'Em Week 4: Jameson Williams, David Montgomery The books Sally Rooney read while writing Intermezzo

Even with the benefit of an extra day before facing the Detroit Lions in a crucial Monday Night Football game, the Seattle Seahawks will be without four key defensive players in prime time, including starters Leonard Williams and Boye Mafe.

In addition to Williams and Mafe, Uchenna Nwosu will miss a fourth straight game as he continues to recover from a knee sprain he suffered in the preseason finale, and first-round pick Byron Murphy II will miss his first career game after being injured in the suffered a hamstring strain in the last game of the week's win against the Dolphins. Without those four players, coach Mike Macdonald doesn't want to dwell on their failures Monday night, but looks forward to seeing other players step up as their strengths are determined in a difficult road environment to showcase Seattle's strength in the trenches.

“I wouldn't say it's any different than if we have four guys that are down, that means four more guys will be up,” Macdonald commented on Saturday. “I’m looking forward to seeing these guys play. When you talk about your football team having depth, you want it to feel like, 'Okay, I can't wait to see who gets this opportunity now.' So that's our view, the guys will have more opportunities than they normally have and we look forward to seeing what they do.”

If there's a silver lining for the Seahawks, it's that Macdonald and his staff will still be able to field a solid starting lineup with veteran defensive tackles Jarran Reed and Johnathan Hankins at inside linebackers and the duo of Dre'Mont Jones and Derick Hall at outside linebackers to be set up from the edge. But aside from these four players, the team will have to rely on rarely used reserves and training rosters in the squad to fill the gap.

Among those who will have a chance to make a name for themselves with strong snaps up front is second-year defensive back Mike Morris, who is looking to take over Williams' role as a big, long 3-tech and base defensive end , and athletic veteran Myles Adams offers the same position flexibility as Murphy with the ability to play 3-tech or even nose tackle in a pinch. Off the practice squad, nose tackles Quinton Bohanna and Matt Gotel could be options to bolster the interior, while Tyus Bowser could join Trevis Gipson as the primary backup behind Hall and Mafe on the active roster.

Can Seattle withstand the litany of injuries in the Motor City? In a new episode of Locked On Seahawks, host Corbin Smith looks at the team's depth chart minus four of its best players along the defensive line and examines which players have the best chance to prove themselves as the next man up.
