Philips Sonicare is capitalizing on the trend of brands appearing in culture by partnering with a celebrity to introduce its electric toothbrush products to a mass audience.

In the debut commercial, McKinnon plays Susan Toothbrush, who helps a hopeful interviewee prepare for his big meeting. When she drops by unexpectedly, she asks him why he's still using an old bristle stick.

“We are thrilled to bring this campaign to life with the incredible Kate McKinnon. “It really energizes our brand by bringing a comedic and sensitive spin to the topic of oral health,” she said Matina Vidalis, senior marketing director, consumer and professional oral health, Philips North America. “In early discussions about our Sonicare Switch campaign, we knew that Kate would be perfect to educate people about the benefits of switching to an electric toothbrush.”

“At Philips Sonicare, we know that there is a direct connection between feeling good and expressing confidence. That’s why our innovations in electric toothbrushes aim to achieve efficient cleaning so users can feel confident as they approach life’s moments, big and small,” she continued. “We loved Kate's creative thinking and commitment to collaboration – which ultimately brought Susan Toothbrush to life – in which a young man is preparing for an important job interview when Susan Toothbrush shows up and encourages him to throw away “his old bristle stick.”
