Tyreek Hill erupts on the sideline during the Dolphins' Monday Night Football loss

“I would expect him to be visibly upset with someone,” McDaniel said after his team lost its third straight game. “A lot of times guys shout at us – he's a leader and he wanted to do everything he could to make sure the outcome wasn't like that. There are a lot of guys in the locker room challenging each other and we get a chance to see what we’re made of.”

The Dolphins' offense is one of the best in the NFL when it has Tagovailoa under center, but the last two weeks with Skylar Thompson and Tyler Huntley calling the shots haven't been pretty.

Thompson struggled in Week 3 and the Dolphins went with Huntley, a former Pro Bowler with the Ravens, for the Monday Night Football game in Week 4.

Huntley couldn't get the offense going, leaving Hill, fellow receiver Jaylen Waddle and running back De'Von Achane pretty helpless.

That lack of commitment — and certainly the team's struggles — likely contributed to his outburst on Monday, with less than six minutes left in the contest and the Titans leading 22-6.

It's unclear who, if anyone, Hill spoke to while patrolling the sidelines.

Hill had a 17-yard catch on Monday, but his other three went for just six yards.

He's one of the best deep threats in the league when he has a good quarterback under center, but the Dolphins haven't found a way to better incorporate him into subpar quarterback play.

McDaniel said it's up to everyone involved to figure out how to make this offense work while they wait for Tagovailoa's potential return, which can't come until Week 8 at the earliest.

The Dolphins will look to end their offensive woes on the road in Week 5 against the equally offensively inept Patriots in a battle of 1-3 teams.

“The tape has a story in it and all the things we’re trying to do,” McDaniel said. “They didn’t actually do anything that surprised us. We felt like we could get these guys the ball in prime situations. We couldn't. So I don't think it's not up to my standard at all. I know for sure that I have a role in the whole thing, but it's definitely a collective thing and we have to figure out how to score points and these guys can definitely help us with that.
