“Talk Talk featuring Troye Sivan” Individual review: (B)brilliant, (R)refreshing, (A)uthentic, (T)riumphant – It’s a pop classic | Art Halloween Mega Store Rips 'SNL' in Revenge for Damaging New Sketch: 'Irrelevant 50-Year-Old TV Show'

Spirit Halloween raised its pitchforks on “Saturday Night Live,” which aired a skit poking fun at the costume shop during Saturday's Season 50 premiere.

America's largest Halloween retailer posted a video of the skit on Show” styled like the clothing sold in their stores. The costume was described as containing “outdated references,” “unknown actors” and “shrinking pay raises” — three clear swipes at “SNL.”.”

X users followed the comments with remarks like “This is way funnier than their video” and “Looks like @nbcsnl needs to hire @SpiritHalloween's social media team as writers.”

But some die-hard “SNL” fans have also chimed in to defend the show. One X user commented: “SNL Regulate. Always, always have been,” while another wrote, “That skit was hilarious though.”

The sketch in question featured Heidi Gardner, Chloe Fineman and Michael Longfellow as Spirit Halloween employees in a fake commercial.

They noted the store's penchant for setting up shop in vacant retail spaces, noting, “We don't see a dead end. We don't see any abandoned Kmart. We see a ghost, a Halloween ghost.”

Longfellow jokingly added, “Thanks to us, the former auto zone where a murder occurred is once again a thriving business where a murder occurred.”

The group also pokes fun at stereotypes about the costume shop's seemingly diverse cast of employees, joking that the company hires “some of the most affected perverts.”

And to end the spirited roast,“SNL” joked: “Spirit Halloween. If you need us, we are here. For six weeks. Because on November 1st we will be gone. And all this trash will end up in the dumpster.”

“Saturday Night Live” airs Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC. Representatives for the show did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Check out the full sketch below.
