X users wonder if birds can be detected on a radar

However, many netizens found it difficult to believe that birds can actually be detected on radar. “That’s not what this is,” one user commented.

“This is wild! It's incredible how nature works. I hope they find their way to safety,” another X user wrote.

Meteorologist Rob Carlmark explained this possibility to 9NEWS: “Birds can show up on radar. In fact, it is common for birds to emerge as they sleep at night and then fly out in the morning.”

Meanwhile, another meteorologist, Ben Dery, further elaborated that radars can detect many things, including insects, temperature changes, density changes and birds.

When hurricanes hit Florida, birds usually get stuck in the middle and it can be very dangerous for them.

“However, many other birds will be caught in the storm. Radar images often show birds in the eye of hurricanes that cannot escape through the eyewall,” said Audubon Florida, a conservation group.
